Pregnancy is considered a rebirth for a woman and rightly so! With the transformations happening inside your body and the crazy hormonal changes, life does seem different. On top of that, lengthy commutes, sitting long hours, work pressure, deadlines, fatigue and the list goes on! But this time listen to your body and try not to exhaust yourself too much! Accept the changes and embrace it.
Here are a few pointers to wade through this phase of your life!
Manage Stress as Much As You Can
While stress itself is not bad, chronic stress can be. Learn to deal with stress. Excuse yourself from a volatile situation and choose a private place to calm yourself down.
Try to take things lightly, stay positive, eat healthy foods and practice meditation. Don’t forget to talk to your practitioner should you have any concerns.
Make Yourself Physically Comfortable At Work
If your work involves sitting long hours on desktop, you will be at a risk of developing carpal tunnel syndrome. The same holds true when travelling long distances on a business trip. This happens due to fluid build up and the pressure from your growing baby on the veins causes swollen legs and ankles. Know more about edema during pregnancy.

Work Smarter Instead of Harder
Remember the 80/20 Pareto rule? Learn to work efficiently. Focus your energy on those 20% of tasks that would reap 80% of results. Definitely not as easy as it sounds. A little planning can go a long way in organizing stuff and planning work effectively. Work within your team to identify those most important tasks and focus there. It works like a charm!
When life gets challenging day after day, take a few minutes everyday to do nothing. Learn a meditation technique or just focus on your breath for few minutes. Set aside some time every morning to plan for the events during the day. Then slow down and take things easy during the day. Take a few moments before you act or react. In the end don’t get too attached to your plan either. If the things do not go as you wanted them to, just go with the flow. Give yourself a breather and never lose sight of the bigger picture.
Surround Yourself with Soothing Objects
Flowers, a potted plant, a trinket or a souvenir from a pleasant trip- surround yourself with objects that calm your senses, remind you to breath or evoke pleasant memories
Confide in a Friend
Communication is key. Vent out your frustrations to a friend, your spouse or a family member who knows you best. During times like these, listening to a different perspective on an issue can help you handle a difficult situation better. Choose someone with a positive frame of mind, who can help you make the right decisions.
When work takes a toll on you, sleep is compromised the most and that’s a BIG NO NO.. Your body needs plenty of rest and sleep is quintessential to get you going the next day SUPERCHARGED.
Remember to focus on the present and stay positive. Avoid overloading yourself either with information or with work. Remember most important right now is the baby.
Relax, you are going to be fine. Enjoy this moment and be happy!
